Abbey Books is located in the historic Scottish town of Paisley. The town became well-known during the 18th and 19th centuries for the production of cloth with the distinctive Paisley Pattern.  It also has some fine architecture; the Abbey originally founded in 1163 as a Cluniac Monastery retains its medieval nave; the Coats Memorial a magnificent Baptist Cathedral built in a Gothic-design red sandstone; Paisley Town Hall an excellent example of Victorian architecture built in Renaissance style; and also Scotland's best preserved 18th century weavers' cottages, the Sma' Shot Cottages.  Find out lots more about Paisley on the Community Website.

Explore the story of Paisley's weaving heritage at Sma' Shot Cottages
They have a lovely wee tearoom for lunch.  They are open Wednesdays 12 Noon  until 4pm (or maybe 3pm?) until end-Nov.  They are open April - Sept on Wednesdays and Saturdays 12 Noon - 4pm.  (You might want to phone them to check times since I seem a bit vague!  0141 889 1708)  You can buy their recipe book (£2.50) in our shop! A lot of people are sending them abroad!
