Abbey Books is located in the historic Scottish town of Paisley. The town became well-known during the 18th and 19th centuries for the production of cloth with the distinctive Paisley Pattern.  It also has some fine architecture; the Abbey originally founded in 1163 as a Cluniac Monastery retains its medieval nave; the Coats Memorial a magnificent Baptist Cathedral built in a Gothic-design red sandstone; Paisley Town Hall an excellent example of Victorian architecture built in Renaissance style; and also Scotland's best preserved 18th century weavers' cottages, the Sma' Shot Cottages.
