"Alan McCombes was in the shop on Saturday 30th July 2011 for a signing of his book:  Downfall: The Tommy Sheridan Story.
 
 "Alan McCombes was a key political ally and friend of Tommy Sheridan for decades, from his early days in Militant, through the Anti-Poll Tax campaign and the subsequent creation of the Scottish Socialist Party, right up until Tommy left the SSP to form Solidarity. Alan was one of the key witnesses who testified in the 2006 defamation trial that saw Tommy win £200,000 in damages from News of the World and also testified in the "trial of the decade", the 2010 perjury trial that saw Tommy jailed for three years.

The water through the ceiling on Fri 3 Dec 2010 maybe didn't matter to to you but it was a big event to us! 

Did you enjoy John & Noreen Steele's previous books on the HMS Dasher disaster?  Well they have a new one out:  The American Connection to the Sinking of HMS Dasher.  They were in the shop for a signing on Sat 27th Nov 2010 between 12 Noon and 2pm.

The Renfrewshire Local History Forum sold archaeology and history books from the collection of Gordon McCrae in the shop on Saturday 30th October. Each sale included a commemorative bookmark - which was nice.

Read this and weep!  In the summer of 2010 we were shortlisted in the Scottish Independent Retail Awards in the Book/Stationery Retailer of the Year category. I don't know how or why.  Here's proof.

If you have visited the shop, you will not be surprised that we didn't win!  Congratulations to Books and Beans in Aberdeen who did.
